Liverpool Beat Ten-Man Tottenham 2–1 to Claim Vital Away Win

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Liverpool secured a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, overcoming a tense game that swung decisively in their favour during the second half. After a tight and goalless opening 45 minutes, the visitors capitalised on key moments to take control, while Spurs were left to rue disciplinary lapses and missed opportunities.

The breakthrough arrived just after the hour mark when Alexander Isak finished calmly inside the box following a well-timed pass, giving Liverpool the lead. Ten minutes later, Hugo Ekitiké doubled the advantage, rising above the defence to power home a header that left the home side in serious trouble. Tottenham’s task became even more difficult after Cristian Romero was dismissed late on, adding to earlier setbacks that saw them reduced to ten men for long spells.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Spurs mounted a late push and pulled a goal back through Richarlison, who headed home to set up a nervy finish. However, Liverpool held firm in the closing stages to see out the win, collecting three important points that boost their league position and confidence.

For Tottenham, the defeat highlighted ongoing struggles, as another home setback compounded a challenging period in their Premier League campaign.
