Military Recovers N8m Ransom Following Rescue of Kidnap Victim in Plateau State

SHENDAM, PLATEAU STATE — Troops of Operation Enduring Peace rescued a female kidnap victim and recovered N8 million ($5,333) in ransom payments on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Okay News reports that Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, confirmed the operation in a statement issued on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

The rescue followed the abduction of the victim from the Bauna area of Shendam Local Government Area on April 19, 2026. Troops deployed in Sector 9 Shendam utilized intelligence gathered during the interrogation of an arrested suspect to locate the victim at Padam Forest in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area.

The military statement noted that troops “successfully rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered ransom paid by the family during a coordinated operation.” It also stated that the recovered ransom “was returned to the family.”

Following her rescue, the victim was transported to the General Hospital, Shendam, for medical examination before being reunited with her family.

The Joint Task Force is currently conducting exploitation operations in the kidnappers’ hideouts within Qua’an Pan and Shendam Local Government Areas to locate other members of the criminal syndicate.
