Ports & Cargo Handling Services Limited, a subsidiary of SIFAX Group, experienced minimal disruptions in operations after a fire outbreak occurred on Saturday at its facility in Tin Can Island Port, Lagos.
Okay.ng understands that the fire engulfed part of the terminal’s IT office.
However, the company assured stakeholders that no data loss occurred due to robust backup measures in place to safeguard critical information.
Mr. Muyiwa Akande, Group Head of Corporate Communications at SIFAX Group, commended the swift response of the Area Controller of Tin Can Island Customs Command, Comptroller Dera Nnadi, in addressing the situation.
Akande stated, “Minimal disruption to our services is expected. We are currently collaborating with all relevant agencies, particularly the Nigerian Customs Service, Tin Can Island Command, to restore normal port operations by Monday, February 26, 2024.”
He added, “We want to assure all our stakeholders, including clearing agents, consignees, and other port users, that we have activated our approved business continuity plan to ensure uninterrupted operations while we work diligently to resume normal port activities as scheduled.”
Furthermore, the company expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who have shown concern and solidarity following the incident.
