Minister confirms NYSC DG’s removal

By Okay News

Sunday Dare, the minister of sports and youth development, has stated that Brigadier-General Mohammed Fadah, the director-general of the National Youth Service (NYSC), has been fired.

In the early hours of Friday, Dare responded to a text message question that had earlier been submitted to him and confirmed the one-star General’s dismissal.

“Honorable Minister, please is it true that the President has sanctioned the sacking of the NYSC DG?” was the question posed to the minister.

Dare’s text message response was limited to a single word: “yes.”

Fadah refused to comment much on the situation, but a source in the Presidency had claimed there were warning signs he might not hold onto power given the Minister of Sports and Youth Development’s concerns about his demeanor.

The dependable source states: “The Minister of Sports and Youth Development had reason to complain about the DG’s behavior toward several big men. He was not going to last, I knew it.

It was further learned that the previous NYSC Boss has been directed to transfer control to the Corps’ most senior official, who would serve in that capacity until a new Director-General is selected.

Fadah began serving as the NYSC DG in May 2022.
