The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has rejected the proposed N60,000 minimum wage, deeming it “not realistic and unsustainable”.
Hajiya Halimah Salihu Ahmed, Director of Media and Public Affairs of the NGF, released a statement on Friday, emphasizing that implementing the proposed wage would force some states to borrow funds to pay workers’ salaries.
The statement urged all parties involved to consider the socioeconomic variables and settle for a sustainable and fair agreement.
This move comes after labour unions, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), rejected the federal government’s proposal and temporarily suspended their strike action for further negotiations.
