Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Says Rivers Crisis May Threaten National Security

By Oluwadara Akingbohungbe

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has expressed serious concerns about the escalating crisis in Rivers State, calling for President Bola Tinubu’s intervention to resolve the dispute between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

In a statement released on Tuesday by her media aide, Israel Arogbonlo, she urged the President to ensure that the minister dedicates his attention to his responsibilities in the FCT, this would allow his successor to effectively govern Rivers State in line with the constitution.

She emphasized the need for immediate presidential intervention to protect lives and property, maintain the neutrality of state institutions, and prevent further escalation of the conflict, which she believes poses a serious threat to the peace and stability of both the region and the country at large.
