Abuja, NIGERIA – The Nigerian Navy has confirmed the arrest and detention of personnel involved in a public fight with soldiers during President Bola Tinubu’s official visit to Bayelsa State on Friday.

The footage shows a heated exchange between a driver in a “Naval Police” vehicle and another driver, which escalated when a soldier approached and punched the Naval officer, sparking a chaotic free-for-all in front of stunned onlookers.
In a statement released on Saturday, April 11, 2026, the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abi Folorunso, confirmed that the affected personnel are currently in custody. They are undergoing disciplinary proceedings in accordance with military regulations to address the breach of conduct.
