By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Lagos, NIGERIA – The Nigeria Police Force has launched an investigation into allegations of officer misconduct at the Satellite Town Division in Lagos, following a viral video posted by a citizen on April 4, 2026.

Okay News gathered that the video, shared by a complainant on X (formerly known as Twitter) identified as @otpcapalot (Rhapstar), alleged incivility and misconduct by officers on surveillance duties. In a statement released on Saturday, April 11, 2026, the Force New Media Officer, Aliyu Giwa, confirmed that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and the officers involved have already been summoned for interviews and statement-taking.

Preliminary findings by the police indicate that the incident actually occurred in May 2025. Despite the time elapsed, the police leadership emphasized that “no incident is too old to investigate” and that the rule of law remains non-negotiable.

The investigation is currently focused on obtaining direct accounts from the victims to ensure a comprehensive review. The police management reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, dismissing any suggestions of a cover-up and promising regular updates as the case progresses.
