Nigeria booked their place in the AFCON 2025 knockout stage with a tense 3–2 victory over Tunisia in Group C.
The Super Eagles survived a dramatic late comeback attempt in Fes. Goals from Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi and Ademola Lookman put the Super Eagles firmly in control before the match turned nervy in the closing stages.
Osimhen opened the scoring just before half-time, with Ndidi doubling the lead early in the second half. Lookman then made it 3–0, seemingly sealing a comfortable win. However, Tunisia responded through Montassar Talbi’s header before Ali Abdi converted a late VAR-awarded penalty to cut the deficit to one goal.
Despite heavy late pressure from the Carthage Eagles, Nigeria held on to secure all three points and move to six points, guaranteeing qualification to the last 16 with a game to spare.
The Super Eagles now top Group C and will face a third-placed team from another group in the next round.
