Abuja, NIGERIA – Nigeria and Poland are exploring new areas of cooperation in technology, defence, cybersecurity and maritime development following talks between Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister, Krzysztof Gawkowski, in Abuja.
During the meeting at the Presidential Villa, Shettima said Nigeria is becoming more attractive to foreign investors due to major economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He said the government had removed fuel subsidy, liberalised the foreign exchange market and introduced tax reforms aimed at making it easier for businesses to operate in Nigeria.
Okay News reports that the discussions focused on possible partnerships in the digital economy, defence technology and maritime infrastructure.
Shettima told the Polish delegation that Nigeria is seeking stronger economic partnerships rather than depending on foreign aid.
Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister, Krzysztof Gawkowski, described Nigeria as his country’s most important strategic partner in Africa and expressed interest in expanding cooperation between both nations.
He noted that Poland has strong expertise in cybersecurity, defence manufacturing and shipbuilding, adding that his country is ready for long-term collaboration with Nigeria.
