Ikeja, Lagos State, NIGERIA — The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a woman following a violent domestic incident at 32 Tashoro Street, Opeki, along the Ayobo road. The arrest on Wednesday, follows a viral report of a mother who allegedly stabbed her 15-year-old daughter multiple times during a severe physical altercation.

Okay News reports that the prompt intervention of neighbors prevented what could have been a fatal “final strike” with a large kitchen knife.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Office confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and facing a thorough investigation for child abuse and attempted murder. The 15-year-old victim and her siblings have been rescued from the home and safely handed over to the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development for medical treatment and psychosocial support.

The incident has sparked outrage across Lagos, with residents of the Opeki community describing the suspect as a “stubborn lady” with a history of maltreating her children. The Police Command has urged the public to remain calm and avoid jungle justice, assuring that the case will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
