By Adamu Abubakar Isa

KADUNA, Nigeria — Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a man accused of impersonating a retired Major General in Kaduna State, military sources said on Thursday.

Okay News reports that the suspect was apprehended by troops of the 312 Artillery Regiment deployed at the Strike Force Base in the Sabo area of Kaduna following intelligence received by military authorities.

According to security sources, the individual was arrested at about 9:14 a.m. on Wednesday for allegedly presenting himself as retired Major General A.T. Ibrahim. He is currently being held in military custody while preliminary investigations continue.

Military sources said the arrest was carried out after intelligence operatives tracked the suspect and established grounds for intervention. The man is expected to be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution once initial military procedures are concluded.

Authorities have not disclosed the motive behind the alleged impersonation or whether the suspect used the assumed identity to obtain benefits, influence individuals, or facilitate other activities.

Security agencies said investigations remain ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case, including whether additional individuals may have been involved in the alleged scheme.
