Nigerian Musician Davido Pauses Career for Two Months to Support Osun State Governor’s Re-election

Ede, Nigeria – Nigerian musician Davido announced on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, that he is suspending his music engagements for two months to support the re-election campaign of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The musician made the statement while inaugurating a youth campaign committee in Ede to back the governor’s second-term bid.

“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle, not only because he is my uncle but because I believe in what he is doing and the work ahead,” Davido said.

Okay News reports that he directed members of the committee to focus on grassroots mobilization across the state to share the political message with residents.

“Let’s do door-to-door mobilisation across all local governments, engaging with people in our communities,” he said.

The organization named Davido as chairman of the youth campaign committee, with Adeshina Kayode serving as vice chairman and Gbenga Idowu as secretary.
