Nigeria’s National Youth Service Corps Extends Registration for 2025 Batch C

By Muhammad A. Aliyu

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), a government program that deploys Nigerian university graduates for one year of mandatory national service, has extended the registration deadline for its 2025 Batch C intake following widespread technical difficulties on its online portal.

In a statement issued by Caroline Embu, the NYSC’s Director of Public Relations, the agency said registration will now close at 11:59 p.m. on November 11, after thousands of applicants were unable to complete their enrollment due to persistent network problems.

“The management of the NYSC has noted the difficulties being faced by some prospective corps members (PCMs) in the ongoing registration for the 2025 Batch ‘C’ mobilisation,” the statement read.

“The longer-than-usual time it is taking some PCMs to complete the registration is a result of network issues. While management regrets the inconvenience this might have caused our valued PCMs, we wish to assure all that we are working round the clock to resolve the issues and ensure they enjoy seamless registration.”

The NYSC’s online registration portal, which went live earlier in November, experienced repeated outages and connectivity failures, prompting frustration among applicants. Since November 7, many prospective corps members have voiced their complaints on social media, urging the government to fix the system and extend the deadline to avoid exclusion from the upcoming deployment.

Created in 1973, the NYSC is one of Nigeria’s longest-running post-graduate programs aimed at promoting national unity and youth development.

Each year, university graduates from across the country are mobilized to serve in various public and private institutions, often outside their home regions, a policy designed to foster cultural exchange and civic participation among young Nigerians.
