The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has announced plans to transition its procurement operations to a cloud-based system on the SAP Ariba Network starting January 1, 2025.
The move is part of the company’s broader digital transformation strategy aimed at enhancing competitiveness, improving operational performance, and fostering transparency in procurement processes.
In a statement released on Thursday, Uzoma Emelife, NNPC’s Chief Supply Chain Officer, emphasized the significance of the transition as a milestone in modernizing procurement operations.
“This remarkable step will bring our esteemed vendors in touch with contracting opportunities on the NNPC Ariba Platform, a secure and exclusive marketplace tailored for end-to-end procurement of goods and services,” Emelife said.
The NNPC also announced a Suppliers’ Summit, themed ‘Reshaping the Future of Procurement and Supplier Management’, to be held on December 3, 2024. The event will provide vendors with insights into leveraging the Ariba platform for contracting opportunities.
“This transition will enhance our suppliers’ experience, minimise human interface, and improve process transparency while fostering collaboration and best practices,” Emelife stated. He added that the platform will streamline all procurement stages, including the issuance of RFQs/RFPs, bid submissions, evaluations, contract negotiations, purchase order issuance, and invoice processing.
The transition aligns with the 2024 Presidential Directive on Reduction of Petroleum Sector Contracting Costs and Timelines, which seeks to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness within the industry.
At the summit, attendees will receive guidance on registering and creating supplier profiles, navigating the portal’s functionalities, and understanding procurement workflows and best practices.
