Ibadan, Oyo State, NIGERIA — Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has officially addressed his absence from the National Summit of All Opposition Parties held in Ibadan on Saturday.
In a scathing statement, Sowore rejected the gathering of political heavyweights, labeling the participants as “recycled failures” who have presided over Nigeria’s systemic decay.
While the summit featured prominent figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Rotimi Amaechi, Sowore characterized the event as a “charade” designed to rebrand opportunistic political actors.
Okay News reports that the AAC leader maintained his party would not be part of any coalition involving the PDP, Labour Party, or ADC, asserting that the nation needs a complete break from the past rather than a “rearrangement of the same broken pieces.”
“We are committed to presenting a formidable, people-driven alternative, one rooted in integrity, accountability, and genuine transformation,” Sowore declared via his official social media channels. He argued that those present in Ibadan were the same individuals who “held Nigeria to ransom for years,” and vowed to mobilize a credible vision that rejects both the ruling APC and its traditional opposition counterparts.
