OFFICIAL: INEC Declares APC’s Fayemi Winner of Ekiti Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, winner of the Ekiti state governorship election held yesterday in the state.

Fayemi won the election with a total vote of 197,459 while the leading contender and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka had 178,121 votes. PDC’s candidate came third with a total vote of 1,242.

INEC’s Chief Returning Officer for the Ekiti state governorship election, Prof. Abel Idowu Olayinka, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, said: “That John Olukayode Fayemi of the APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law and the highest number of votes is hereby declared winner of the Ekiti state governorship election.”

While announcing few minutes to 8am on Sunday, he gave the figures as follows:
