French midfielder Paul Pogba has completed a move to AS Monaco, marking his return to competitive football with a two-year deal following an 18-month doping suspension.
Okay.ng reports that the Ligue 1 club confirmed the signing on Saturday, bringing the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner back to the French topflight on a free transfer. The deal runs until June 30, 2027.
Pogba’s return comes after a turbulent period that saw his contract with Juventus terminated following a failed drug test in September 2023, where he tested positive for non-endogenous testosterone. Originally handed a four-year suspension, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced the ban to 18 months, paving the way for his comeback.
“AS Monaco are delighted to announce the arrival of Paul Pogba,” the club stated. “The French World Champion has signed a two-season deal, having signed with the Principality until 30 June 2027.”
Pogba, 32, is a product of Manchester United’s youth academy and has had two spells with both United and Juventus. He rose to global prominence during his time in Serie A, winning four consecutive league titles with Juventus before rejoining Manchester United in a then world-record transfer in 2016, where he lifted the Europa League and EFL Cup.
