The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State yesterday said the party was satisfied with the performance of the state House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Onofiok Luke, and has no intention to ask for his replacement.
This clarification became necessary because of the speculation making the rounds that plans were on to drop the speaker for the returnee former Speaker, Mr. Aniekan Uko, who won his reelection to return to the state Assembly a fortnight ago.
Uko’s election as a member representing Ibesikpo Asutan state constituency was annulled last December by the appellate court, thus losing out as Assembly speaker.
