Peter Obi Demands Action Against Those Behind Threats Against Igbos in Lagos

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

The Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of individuals promoting genocidal threats against Igbos in Lagos. Obi, a former Anambra State governor, described the ultimatum as “deeply disturbing” and urged authorities to take swift action to protect the fundamental right of Nigerians to live and work freely anywhere in the country.

Obi condemned the threats, which have been circulating on social media, and warned that such rhetoric threatens national security and unity. He emphasized the need for leadership and urgent action to address the issue, stating that “those in authority must show leadership and urgently speak out against such divisive rhetoric.”

The former governor also appealed to Nigerians to stand united against divisive rhetoric and champion unity, tolerance, and understanding, stressing that “our future depends on our ability to live and work together harmoniously.”
