By Adamu Abubakar Isa

ONITSHA, Nigeria — Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has donated N25 million to Shanahan University in Onitsha, Anambra State, as part of his continued support for education and human capital development.

Okay News reports that Obi announced the donation following a visit to the institution, where he reiterated his belief that sustainable national development is only possible through significant investment in education.

According to the former Anambra State governor, education remains the most important driver of progress and societal transformation, stressing that nations that prioritise learning and human capital development are better positioned for long-term growth and prosperity.

Obi commended the university’s management, lecturers and staff for their efforts in training students and promoting academic excellence. He praised the institution’s commitment to producing graduates who are academically sound, morally upright and capable of contributing positively to society.

The former governor also encouraged students of the university to remain dedicated to their studies and maintain hope for the future, noting that discipline, hard work and strong values would position them to play a key role in national development.

Obi said his latest contribution forms part of his ongoing support for educational institutions across the country, maintaining that investment in education remains essential to building a more prosperous and developed Nigeria.

He concluded by reaffirming his long-standing message that “a New Nigeria is possible.”
