Sixty-two people, including 55 passengers and seven crew members, were killed in a plane crash in southern Russia. FlyDubai flight FZ981 was en route from Dubai to the city of Rostov-on-Don in southern Russia. The Boeing 737 passenger plane crashed on Saturday during a second attempt to land at the city’s airport.

According to the latest update from the airline during a press conference in Dubai, passengers included 44 Russians, eight Ukrainians, two Indians and one Uzbekistani national on board. The crew members comprised of citizens from Russia, Spain, Colombia, the Seychelles and Kyrgyzstan.

Hours after the incident, the plane’s black box has been found at the crash site, the Investigative Committee of Russia said, adding that it is looking into pilot error or a technical failure as the most likely causes of the accident.

However, the pilots were experienced, according to details given at the press conference. The flight’s pilot had 5,900 hours of flying time experience while his co-pilot had 5,700 hours. The crashed airplane had gone through a maintenance check on January 21.
