Jerusalem, ISRAEL — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu disclosed on Friday that he has been successfully treated for an early-stage malignant prostate tumour.
The revelation came via a statement on X accompanying the publication of his annual medical report, which the 76-year-old leader said he had intentionally delayed to prevent Tehran from utilizing his health status for propaganda during the height of the US-Israel war with Iran.
The tumour, described as a “tiny spot of less than a centimetre,” was discovered during routine monitoring following a 2024 surgery for a benign prostate enlargement.
Okay News reports that Netanyahu underwent immediate treatment which he claims “removed the problem and left no trace of it.” The Prime Minister reassured the public that he is currently in “excellent physical condition” and that the medical issue is now “behind him.”
Netanyahu’s health update arrives at a high-stakes moment for Middle Eastern diplomacy. He is scheduled to visit the White House in the coming weeks as the United States attempts to broker a long-lasting peace deal to conclude the conflict with Iran. Simultaneously, the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon has been extended by three weeks, offering a fragile window for broader regional negotiations.
“When I’m given information in time about a potential danger, I want to address it immediately,” Netanyahu stated, drawing a parallel between his personal health management and his national security strategy. Despite the ongoing regional tensions, Israel has continued to strengthen international ties, recently pledging to boost defense and technology cooperation with India.
