Police Arrest Suspect Over Fake Abuja Terror Alert

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Abuja, NIGERIA – The Nigeria Police Force has officially debunked a viral video claiming that a terrorist attack was underway in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Okay News reports that the police dismissed the video as “entirely false, misleading, and malicious” in a statement released on Friday, April 10, 2026. Investigations revealed that the footage was a compilation of old clips sourced online, designed to incite panic and undermine public confidence in the nation’s security.

Following digital forensic investigations, police operatives arrested one Pam Joseph in connection with the creation and dissemination of the content. The suspect is currently in custody and will be charged in court once investigations are complete.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, warned that the right to freedom of expression does not include the deliberate spread of misinformation that threatens national security. He urged the public to verify information before sharing it and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to monitoring digital spaces for individuals spreading false narratives.
