President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in Niamey, the capital of neighbouring Niger Republic to take part in a meeting on common currency for West African states.

The Nigerian leader, according to reports, is already in the meeting with other ECOWAS Task Force Common Currency member countries.

ECOWAS, a regional body of West African countries, has Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Niger members of its Task Force on Common Currency.

“The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun and the Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, will also join the President at the meeting,” Femi Adesina, president’s Buhari’s media aide, had earlier said in a statement.
