PROFILE: Meet Newly Appointed CBN Deputy Governor Aishah Ahmad

Newly-appointed Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Aishah Ahmad is both beauty and brains complemented with laudable achievements.

The mother of two boys is an indigene of Niger State and is married to retired Brigadier-general Abdallah Ahmed.

Ahmad holds a degree in Accounting from the University of Abuja. She also holds two Masters one in Finance from the University of Lagos and another in Management from the Cranfield School of Management in the United Kingdom.

She began her sojourn in the banking industry in 1997 and has so far surpassed most of her colleagues.

The mother of two has professional banking experience in NAL Bank Plc, Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc and Zenith Bank Plc, and Diamond Bank Plc.

Ahmad is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst, CFA and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, CAIA Associations

She is the chairperson of the executive council of Women in Management, Business and Public Service, WIMBIZ, a Nigerian non-profit organisation, aimed at addressing the rights of women professionals in business.

Aishah was announced as CBN deputy governor on Thursday by the presidency and is expected to resume duty after Senate’s confirmation.

Prior to her appointment as CBN deputy governor, she was the Executive Director (Retail Banking) at Diamond Bank Plc.
