Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has addressed recent controversies surrounding her personal life by voluntarily undergoing a drug test, a step she revealed in an emotional statement shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday.
Okay News reports that the actress described the past few months as one of the most challenging periods of her life, marked by intense personal struggles and relentless public scrutiny that almost overwhelmed her.
“The past few months of my life have been nothing short of heavy. one of those seasons that tries to sit on your chest and ask, ‘So, what are we doing next?’ It has been a major turning point, one that shook me to my core. Everything I had ever known was drowning right in front of me,” Daniels wrote.
Despite the emotional toll, the actress said she was able to withstand the pressure because of the support she received from her immediate circle and members of the public. According to her, the encouragement and understanding she experienced became a source of strength during a difficult time.
“But here’s the plot twist…I didn’t drown with it. Why? Because I was carried by overwhelming love, support, patience, and understanding from my family, my friends, members of the general public. And for that, I am forever grateful,” she stated.
Daniels explained that her decision to undergo a drug test came after deep personal reflection and was motivated by a desire to be accountable to those who stood by her. She said the step was necessary, not only to address public speculation, but also to protect her own peace of mind.
“After much reflection (and a few very long conversations with myself), I decided to take this test because I owe it to the people who stood by me, the people who love me, and the people who look up to me. Integrity matters. Accountability matters. Peace of mind especially matters,” she added.
The actress noted that persistent rumours branding her a drug addict were particularly painful, describing the claims as baseless. She stressed that taking the test was not solely about clearing her name, but about demonstrating responsibility and transparency, especially as a public figure with a large following.
