Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed claims of a political crisis in the state, stating that his administration has provided focused leadership and governance to the people.
Despite a strained relationship with his former political godfather and former governor, Nyesom Wike, Fubara emphasized that his goal is to deliver good governance to the Rivers people.
He made these remarks while receiving members of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions at Government House in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
Fubara attributed the pressure from the political crisis to strengthening his commitment to service, which has positively impacted the lives of the people. He emphasized that governance is about the people, not personal interests, and his administration is dedicated to meeting the core needs of the citizens.
The political crisis in Rivers State began with a strained relationship between Fubara and Wike, which led to 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The lawmakers, loyal to Wike, accused Fubara of withholding funds from them.
Although President Bola Tinubu intervened, leading to an eight-point resolution, the crisis has not been fully resolved. Despite this, Fubara remains committed to providing good governance to the people of Rivers State.
