Rivers Governor Reveals Motive Behind Failed Bomb Attack

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has disclosed that the failed bomber who detonated an explosive in Port Harcourt on Tuesday targeted the Presidential Hotel, a high-end hospitality facility accommodating prominent individuals, including members of the Senate Committee on Privatization.

Governor Fubara made this revelation during a visit by the Senate Committee on Privatization, led by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, to the Government House in Port Harcourt. He explained that the attacker aimed to justify the call for a state of emergency in the state by targeting the hotel, where high-profile guests, including the Senate committee members, were lodged.

The governor condemned the attack, which resulted in one fatality, and criticized the perceived silence of the law in addressing such incidents. He emphasized his commitment to defending the state and protecting its citizens, reiterating that he is not fighting anyone but rather upholding the rule of law.

Senator Kalu, in his address, commended Governor Fubara for his peaceful approach and urged him to continue prioritizing peace and economic growth in the state. He also appealed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to promote peace and order in the state.
