Senate Confirms Capt. Chris Najomo as New NCAA Director General

By Muhammad A. Aliyu

The Nigerian Senate has officially confirmed the appointment of Capt. Chris Ona Najomo as the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

The confirmation came after the Senate reviewed and adopted the report submitted by its Committee on Aviation during Thursday’s plenary session.

Senator Buhari Abdulfatai (APC-Oyo), Chairman of the Aviation Committee, presented the committee’s report to the Senate.

He highlighted Capt. Najomo’s extensive experience and significant contributions to the aviation sector, stating that the committee’s screening process deemed him highly suitable for the position.

Senator Abdulfatai then urged the Senate to approve the committee’s recommendation for Najomo’s confirmation.

The motion to confirm Capt. Najomo’s appointment received widespread support from the Senate. Senator Mohammed Monguno (APC-Borno), while noting he wasn’t a member of the Aviation Committee, acknowledged the impressive nature of Najomo’s resume.

He further emphasized that no adverse security reports were received from relevant agencies regarding the nominee, reinforcing the committee’s confidence in his suitability.

Senator Monguno also called on the Senate to approve the confirmation.

Following the presentation of the report and the supportive comments from Senators, the Senate officially confirmed Capt. Chris Ona Najomo as the new Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
