Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the National Assembly, has vehemently denied allegations of sponsoring the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests in Abuja. A viral video had suggested that she was involved in sponsoring the protests, but Kingibe described the claims as “misinformation” and “blatant lies”.

Kingibe explained that the video in question was over six weeks old, taken during a Labour Party meeting when the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) was protesting outside the party’s office. She stated that she, along with other stakeholders, including Peter Obi, had engaged with the protesters to address their concerns.

The senator condemned the orchestrated attempt to spread falsehoods and cause confusion, emphasizing that she had not left her house since Wednesday due to illness and had not distributed food and water at the protest grounds. Kingibe vowed not to stand idly by while her name and reputation were being dragged through the mud by “unscrupulous individuals”.
