SERAP Sues Tinubu for Petrol Price Hike

By Oluwadara Akingbohungbe

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) have filed a lawsuit against President Bola Tinubu, seeking a reversal of the petrol price from N845 per liter to N600 per liter.

SERAP argues that the price increase is unlawful, unconstitutional, and causes immense hardship for Nigerians.

The organization also demands an investigation into allegations of corruption and mismanagement within the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

NNPCL has mobilized 300 trucks to lift petrol from the Dangote refinery, with loading scheduled to begin on September 15, 2024. Oil marketers criticize NNPCL’s grip on the market, seeking direct access to petrol from the Dangote refinery.
