ABUJA, Nigeria – Vice President Kashim Shettima has formally submitted the expression of interest and nomination forms for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, signaling the commencement of his bid for a second term in 2027.
Okay News reports that the forms were presented to the national officers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre. Shettima urged party members to unite behind the President, stating that the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda has begun delivering tangible social and economic results.
During the event, the Vice President defended the administration’s policies, acknowledging that while some economic decisions were difficult, they were essential for long-term stability. The submission was attended by a significant delegation of APC governors and leadership from the National Assembly, demonstrating a show of force within the ruling party.
The APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, noted that the party’s endorsement of the President was based on improved economic indicators and performance in critical sectors. He expressed confidence that the administration’s track record would serve as the primary justification for a second mandate.
The move marks the official start of the 2027 election cycle for the presidency. With the backing of the Progressives Governors Forum and key legislative leaders, the President’s team has now moved to consolidate party support ahead of the primary season.
