Supreme Court Orders Justice Okon Abang to Continue with Olisa Metuh’s Trial

The Supreme Court on Friday ordered Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, to continue with the trial of a former spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh.

The five-man panel of the apex court rejected the ex- PDP spokesman’s application for stay of proceedings of his trial before the Federal High Court.

Metuh is standing trial on a two-count charge of money laundering and fraud.

The lead ruling which was prepared by Justice Clara Ogunbiyi ordered Abang to continue with the trial.

The former PDP publicity secretary is currently standing trial before the Justice Abang-led court for allegedly receiving the sum of N400 million from former National Security Adviser (NSA) Col. Sambo Dasuki(rtd) during the 2015 election.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned the PDP spokesperson on a seven count charge bordering on money laundering.

The trial resumes on June 19.
