WASHINGTON, United States – The suspect accused of opening fire at a media gala attended by United States President Donald Trump on Saturday, April 25, 2026, will be arraigned in the US capital on Monday, April 27, 2026.
Okay News reports that United States Attorney Jeanine Piro stated the suspect, identified as Cole Tomas Allen, will appear before a US district judge.
Allen exchanged gunfire with Secret Service agents during the incident but was not shot himself. Piro announced the suspect will face federal charges for using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon.
Trump addressed reporters during a briefing at the White House following the shooting. “It’s not going to deter me from winning the war in Iran. I don’t know if that had anything to do with it, I really don’t think so, based on what we know,” Trump said.
The president described the shooter as a “lone wolf” and noted that investigators are working to determine a motive. Trump had stated earlier that “you never know” if the incident could be linked to the ongoing war with Iran.
Earlier on Saturday, Trump cancelled a scheduled trip by his envoys to Pakistan for peace talks, stating he was unimpressed with the negotiating position of the Iranian government after nearly two months of war.
