Taraba Assembly: Kizito elected as new speaker as Kunini resigns

By Muhammad A. Aliyu

Professor Joseph Albasu Kunini has resigned as the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly due to personal reasons.

His resignation letter was read by the Deputy Speaker, Hamman Adama Abdulahi, during Wednesday’s plenary.

In the letter, Professor Kunini thanked the members of the House for their support and cooperation during his time as Speaker.

“I write to convey my resignation as the Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly. My resignation is on personal grounds.

“I wish to thank the Honourable members for their support and cooperation while I served as the Speaker of this Honourable House,” the letter reads.

John Bonzana Kizito, representing the Zing State constituency, has been nominated and elected as the new Speaker to replace Professor Kunini.

It is not clear at this time what prompted Professor Kunini’s resignation or what his future plans are.
