The Moment Lawmakers Recited ‘Nigeria, We Hail Thee’ Anthem [Video]

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Members of the National Assembly sang the old national anthem, “Nigeria, we hail thee”, for the first time at the joint session marking the Silver Jubilee of Nigeria’s 4th Republic.

This followed President Tinubu’s signing of the National Anthem bill 2024 into law, replacing “Arise, O Compatriots” with “Nigeria, We Hail Thee”.

The Senate and House of Representatives had earlier passed the legislation. The anthem’s lyrics emphasize national unity, truth, justice, and a nation where no one is oppressed.
