Three Persons Die of Lassa Fever In Delta

Lassa Fever has killed three persons in Delta state with 24 others currently under surveilance since the outbreak of the decease in the state on 26 January, 2018.

Commissioner for Health Dr. Mordi Ononye revealed this in a statement on Sunday in Asaba.

Ononye noted that two of the victims were transferred cases from Anambra State.

He also said the state had recorded seven confirmed cases.

According to him, some of the cases were referred from Federal Medical Center (FMC), Asaba, to Institute of Lassa Fever, Irrua, Edo State.

The Commissioner added that the first case have been treated and discharged stressing that active case search and contact tracing is ongoing.

He said that as an immediate response to the outbreak, the Ministry of Health, through its rapid response team, has been coordinating the state’s response to contain the spread of the disease.
