Abuja, NIGERIA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially departed from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Sunday, commencing a three-nation diplomatic tour.
The trip, which was rescheduled by 24 hours to accommodate final domestic briefings, is, according to the Presidency, designed to bolster Nigeria’s economic ties and showcase the Renewed Hope reforms to global investors.
The President’s first stop is France for a preliminary diplomatic engagement before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya. Between May 11 and May 12, President Tinubu will join French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto for the Africa-France Summit.
Okay News reports that the summit, themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” will focus on energy transition, green industrialization, and the restructuring of the global financing architecture.
Following his engagements in Kenya, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to participate in the Africa CEO Forum from May 14 to May 15. This gathering of over 2,000 top executives and national leaders—held in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC)—is expected to attract foreign direct investment. The Presidency confirmed that Tinubu will deliver key statements on his administration’s ongoing fiscal reforms.
The President is accompanied by a delegation, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs and senior economic aides. President Tinubu is expected back in the country following the conclusion of the Kigali forum.
