Abuja, NIGERIA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he will not be intimidated by opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections, reaffirming his commitment to Nigeria’s democratic process and national development.
Speaking on April 16, 2026 during a meeting with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors led by Hope Uzodimma, the President dismissed attempts by opposition leaders to pressure or unsettle him. He made veiled references to key political figures, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, stating that no coalition or political movement could deter his resolve.
Okay News reports that Tinubu also criticised recent opposition activities under the African Democratic Congress, particularly its convention in Abuja, describing such efforts as ineffective. Reflecting on his political journey, he emphasised resilience, noting that both his party primaries and the general election were challenging, but ultimately successful.
The President further stressed the importance of respecting judicial authority, stating that adherence to court decisions remains essential for sustaining democracy. He also took a swipe at past privatisation policies linked to opposition figures, questioning their long-term impact on national development.
Reaffirming his determination, Tinubu assured supporters that his administration would continue to deliver on its promises, insisting that he remains focused on strengthening the economy, infrastructure, and governance. He concluded by declaring that he would not back down in the face of political opposition.
