By Adamu Abubakar Isa

President Bola Tinubu has expressed grief over the tragic death of Herbert Wigwe, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings PLC, his wife, son, and others, including Abimbola Ogunbanjo, a former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, in a helicopter crash.

In a statement released on Sunday by his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu described the helicopter crash as an overwhelming tragedy, expressing shock and deep distress upon learning of the passing of Wigwe and Ogunbanjo.

Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of the deceased, the business community, and all those affected by the heartbreaking incident, offering prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed and solace for grieving Nigerians.

Wigwe, his wife, son, and two crew members were among the six individuals onboard the ill-fated aircraft. The sudden loss of these prominent figures has prompted an outpouring of grief and tributes from across Nigeria.

The helicopter, identified as a Eurocopter EC 130, was en route to Las Vegas when it crashed near Nipton, between Nevada and California, last Friday night. The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the incident, stating that all onboard perished in the crash.
