Tinubu Preaches Sacrifice and Unity in Easter Message

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

LAGOS, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace sacrifice and resilience as the nation navigates its current economic and security challenges, assuring citizens that “a new dawn is on the horizon.”

Okay News reports that in his 2026 Easter message to the nation, the President drew parallels between the season’s message of the triumph of light over darkness and Nigeria’s current realities. While acknowledging the strain of ongoing economic reforms, Tinubu maintained that the policies are carefully designed to lead the country to shared prosperity. “As I have often said, true transformation cannot be achieved without sacrifice, and history affirms that enduring progress is often forged in moments such as these,” he stated.

Addressing the nation’s security challenges, the President commended the gallant efforts of the Armed Forces confronting “the evil actors in our land.” Reflecting on his recent condolence visit to Plateau State, he reassured citizens across all regions enduring insecurity that the government is forging foreign partnerships and making resources available to deal decisive blows to terrorists and bandits. “No nation can thrive where fear prevails, and no progress can be sustained without peace,” Tinubu emphasized, calling on citizens to be their brothers’ keeper.

With the nation gradually approaching another electoral cycle, the President also appealed to political actors to exercise restraint and adhere to the Electoral Act. “Let our choices be guided by a shared commitment to peace, continuity, stability, and the long-term good of our country,” he urged, reminding Nigerians that “Democracy flourishes where responsibility, restraint, and informed participation prevail.”

Expressing gratitude for the public’s continued support, Tinubu concluded his message with an optimistic outlook: “Easter gives us the encouragement and confidence that, even as present conditions still put pressure on many of our people, economic indicators show we are making the right choices.”
