ABUJA, Nigeria — President Bola Tinubu has commended members of Nigeria’s security forces for their efforts in the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country.
Okay News reports that the president praised soldiers and other security personnel for risking their lives to protect communities and maintain peace in different parts of Nigeria.
In a message addressed to security operatives, Tinubu said members of the Armed Forces, Police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, intelligence agencies and local security formations continue to serve as a vital line of defence against criminal groups threatening the country.
The president acknowledged the challenges faced by personnel on the front lines, noting that their duties often involve difficult conditions, sacrifice and prolonged periods away from their families. He also paid tribute to security officers who lost their lives while carrying out their responsibilities, describing their sacrifices as crucial to the protection of communities and the nation.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could aid ongoing operations. He stressed that defeating terrorism and violent crime requires collective national effort and cooperation between citizens and security institutions.
According to the president, Nigeria will not surrender to fear or allow terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other violent extremists to define the country. He expressed confidence that the nation would continue to overcome security threats through the commitment of its security forces and the support of citizens.
