Tinubu Swears in Two Additional NPC Commissioners

By Muhammad A. Aliyu

President Bola Tinubu has administered the oath of office to two new commissioners of the National Population Commission (NPC), further bolstering the commission’s leadership.

This swearing-in ceremony, which took place at the council chamber of the presidential villa on Monday, saw the induction of Fasuwa Johnson from Ogun state and Amidu Raheem from Osun into their new roles.

The addition of Johnson and Raheem follows the inauguration of 17 commissioners two months ago, after their successful appearance before the committee on national identity card and population.

The previously inaugurated commissioners include Emmanuel Eke (Abia), Chidi Ezeoke (Anambra), Alex Ukam (Cross River), Blessyn Brume-Maguha (Delta), and Jeremiah Nwankwegu (Ebonyi), among others.

Additionally, returning commissioners Isa Buratai (Borno), Tony Alyejina (Edo), Clifford Zirra (Adamawa), and others were reaffirmed in their positions.

Before the commencement of the federal executive council (FEC) closed session, a moment of silence was observed in memory of Fabian Osuji, former Minister of Education, and Ogbonnaya Onu, former Minister of Science and Technology, who passed away recently. Osuji served during the tenure of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, while Onu served under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
