By Muhammad A. Aliyu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday to participate in the 2025 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2025), scheduled to hold in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from January 12 to 18.

Initiated by UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the annual summit serves as a global platform to promote discussions on sustainability and foster collaborations among world leaders, policymakers, and industry experts.

According to a statement by the president’s special adviser, Bayo Onanuga, the summit will focus on exploring pathways to accelerate sustainable development and chart new directions for socioeconomic progress.

“ADSW, a testament to the power of collaboration, has been held annually for over 15 years. It provides a global platform to foster multi-stakeholder cooperation in addressing global challenges and accelerating growth,” the statement read.

“It has birthed high-value agreements and strategic partnerships between governments, industry leaders, and clean energy pioneers worldwide, driving impactful alliances and advancing the sustainability agenda worldwide.”

President Tinubu is expected to highlight his administration’s reforms in areas such as energy sufficiency, transportation, public health, and economic development. The summit will also provide an opportunity to engage UAE leaders on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.

Tinubu will be accompanied by Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other senior government officials.

The president’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to sustainability and its role in global efforts to address pressing challenges such as climate change, energy transition, and sustainable economic growth.

Tinubu is scheduled to return to Nigeria on January 16.
