Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has alleged that supporters of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, are planning to stage nationwide protests aimed at destabilizing the government.

In a statement on his Facebook profile, Onanuga claimed that the protesters are the same individuals who hijacked the 2020 ENDSARS protest and are now using social media to spread propaganda and mobilize support for their cause.

He identified several individuals, including a faceless internet radio station owner and a failed politician, as key players in the planned protests. Onanuga accused them of treason and called on security agencies to interrogate them.

The presidential aide also highlighted the government’s efforts to address the cost of living crisis, including increasing the minimum wage, disbursing loans to students, and launching a credit corporation. He urged citizens to consider these efforts before joining the protests.

Onanuga’s statement comes amid growing tensions and calls for protests against the government’s handling of the economy. The Labour Party and its supporters have denied any involvement in plans to destabilize the government.
