Unopposed, Ezenwafor Wins PDP’s Anambra Gubernatorial Primary

In a development that sets the stage for the 2025 Anambra State governorship election, Chief Jude Ezenwafor has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate. The Abuja-based real estate developer clinched the party’s nomination during a primary election held on Tuesday at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka, marking a significant step in his political career, okaynews.com reports.

The primary, overseen by a committee chaired by Col. Chijioke Onwubuya (rtd), proceeded smoothly, despite Ezenwafor running unopposed. While his candidacy faced no challengers, the PDP adhered to its electoral processes, ensuring that delegates formally affirmed their support.

A total of 853 delegates participated in the exercise, representing the breadth of Anambra State’s political landscape. This included 839 delegates from the 21 local government areas of the state, along with 14 national delegates. The structured voting process saw delegates from each local government area cast their ballots in batches, maintaining order and transparency.

Each delegate was issued a ballot paper, on which they were instructed to write Ezenwafor’s name, effectively confirming their endorsement. Upon the conclusion of the voting, and after a careful tally, Col. Onwubuya declared Chief Jude Ezenwafor the PDP’s official gubernatorial candidate for the November 8, 2025 election. This result now positions Ezenwafor to represent the PDP in the upcoming electoral contest, as the political climate in Anambra State begins to intensify.
