The Borno State House of Assembly on Tuesday confirmed Alhaji Usman Durkwa as the new Deputy Governor of the state.
Th Speaker of the House, Alhaji Abdulkarim Lawal, announced the confirmation during the sitting of the House in Maiduguri.
Lawal said Governor Kashim Shettima had forwarded the name of Durkwa as the new Deputy Governor for the consideration of the House.
He explained that the appointment of Durkwa followed the death of the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Zannah Mustapha, in Yola, Adamawa State on August 15.
He said the appointment of a substantive deputy governor by the state governor was in line with the powers conferred on him by section 191 sub section 3 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
