Uzodimma Boasts of Corruption-Free Record, Urges Leaders to Emulate Okpara’s Legacy

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has confidently declared that no one can accuse him of corruption, citing his commitment to transparency and accountability in public office.

Speaking at the Michael Okpara leadership lecture and award 2024 in Abuja, Uzodimma emphasized the need for leaders to live within their legitimate means and avoid corrupt practices. He attributed Nigeria’s corruption problem to an excessive desire for wealth and lack of discipline.

Uzodimma praised the late Premier of Eastern Nigeria, Michael Okpara, as a shining example of selfless leadership and urged politicians to follow in his footsteps. He also announced that the Egbema power plant, currently under rehabilitation, will be completed and commissioned by the first quarter of 2025, promising 24-hour electricity supply across the state.

The event was attended by notable figures, including the Governor of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Otu, and former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan. Uzodimma’s declaration of a corruption-free record and his call for leaders to emulate Okpara’s legacy have sparked interest in his leadership style and commitment to transparency.
