Vice President Shettima Formally Receives Adamawa Governor Fintiri into APC

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Yola, Nigeria – Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has been officially welcomed into the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a major political realignment that bolsters the ruling party’s foothold in the North-East ahead of the 2027 elections.

Okay News reports that Vice President Kashim Shettima formally received the governor and his teeming supporters on Monday during a grand reception at the Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola.

Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the rally, Vice President Shettima described the governor’s entry as a strategic alignment for national development. Addressing the massive crowd, Shettima unequivocally declared Fintiri as the undisputed leader of the APC in Adamawa State, settling any speculation regarding the party’s local hierarchy following the governor’s exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Shettima assured the new entrants—drawn from across the state’s 226 political wards—that they were joining the APC not as strangers, but as vital partners in the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

After receiving the official party flag from APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Governor Fintiri expressed his gratitude and emphasized that his decision was driven by the need to align Adamawa with the federal government’s progressive policies.

He assured the people of his sustained commitment to good governance until his tenure concludes on May 29, 2027, while also urging citizens to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid in the interest of national stability. The landmark event was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, serving governors, ministers, and prominent federal lawmakers.
